"A nice and well-maintained Saab in an unmodified condition."

Description

The first owner was a painting company in Västmanland. The second owner was the father of the current owner, and he bought it in 1968. The father used the car very sparingly. The car has always been stored in a warm garage and well taken care of. The Saab was primarily used for vacations in Sweden, mainly in the northern part. It was never equipped with a car radio. The only accessories it received during the second owner's tenure were a roof rack and a radiator mask that come with the car. In 1988, the clutch failed, and the car was left with a family friend. The current owner, the son of the second owner, took over the Saab in 1989, and the clutch was fixed. It had then driven approximately 170000 km. Since then, the car has only been used as a summer car. In the early 1990s, the engine was completely overhauled, including bearings, oversize pistons, and refurbished cylinder heads. The car is used every year as an enthusiast car to and from car events and short trips. The owner has made several trips abroad in connection with INTSAAB, such as to England, Belgium, Denmark, and Finland. With the chassis number 42058, according to information from SAAB, see picture, it was manufactured on April 6, 1966, the first week of production for the -67 model year. According to Saab, the production of the model 95 began at chassis number 42001 and ended at 50197. It probably had a 2-stroke engine mounted from the beginning, which was later, perhaps already in the summer of 1966, replaced by a V4 engine before delivery. The car comes with a lot of interesting documentation, such as receipts, inspection reports, refueling records, and more dating back to 1968. Also included are some parts and brown fabric to repair the seats, see picture. The Saab is likely the oldest surviving 95 V4, manufactured as early as 6/4-66. The tow hitch was installed about 20 years ago.

Facts about the model

The Saab 95 was introduced in 1959 and was a station wagon variant of the Saab 93, later 96. The Saab 95 was developed in parallel with the 93 and especially its successor, the Saab 96, until 1978 when production was discontinued. The 95 kept its name when the 93 was replaced by the 96, but was also called the V4 station wagon after 1967. The last model years were manufactured in Arlöv. The Saab 95 is a small station wagon. Until the 1975 model year, it could accommodate seven people. This extra seat was later removed for safety reasons and replaced by the spare wheel that had previously been located under the rear seat. The model was also very load-bearing for its size with 425 kg in addition to the service weight. For certain export markets, a panel van without fixed side windows and without a rear seat was also manufactured.
