"Tough car in good condition."

Description

This Mercedes was sold new by Philipson in Örebro in 1980. The car was purchased by the Mercedes Benz Club Sweden in 2018. Before that, it was owned by two consecutive members since 2001. The car has received new front fenders. Unusually for this model is the large climate control unit (the control unit for this is not functioning) as well as fabric upholstery. The Mercedes is also equipped with power windows all around and an electrically operated sunroof, all of which work. The engine is an M117, V8 with 225 hp and fuel injection. The car is in original condition except for the replaced front fenders in 1999. The car has only undergone minor repairs, mostly at the Philipson workshop. When reviewing inspection reports from 1989 to the present, the car has only had two remarks: brake lines in 1997 and headlight adjustment in 2020. Externally, the car is a replica of the Waldegård/Thorzelius race car from the Ivory Coast rally in 1980 (previously called the Bandama rally) which is on display at the museum in Stuttgart. Waldegård became the first ever World Rally Championship champion in 1979. Binder with documentation is included with the car.

Facts about the model

The Mercedes SLC model was introduced in 1971 and was built until 1981. This was Mercedes' modern luxury coupe with a longer chassis than the convertible version, the SL. Compared to the SL, the SLC had a small rear seat and was 2+2 seating. The sporty SLC was built in a relatively small series, 60,000 units - compared to the SL which was built in 260,000 units.

Today, the R107 and C107 car models are highly sought-after collector's cars that are becoming rare. Many have lived hard lives as everyday cars and according to history, they were built to go more than 100,000 miles.

In March 1973, the US engine was introduced to the European market in the 450 SL. In March 1980, new V8 engines were introduced from the new S-Class and in September 1985, the last update was made. The 107 was retired in 1989 after a production cycle of 18 years.
