"As a construction and car, it has a strong attraction for many enthusiasts and with such a nice specimen it gets even better."

Description

It was delivered new in September 1969 in Nybro, used for a few years, then to Bräkne-Hoby in Blekinge, Höör and Vinslöv in northern Skåne, Åled outside Halmstad and back to eastern Småland in 2001, to Mönsterås and the current owner's estate. He was an engaged Citroënist and car enthusiast who took good care of his cars. A collection of inspection protocols and other documentation tells part of the history and according to these protocols the total mileage should be just over 115 000 km. The Ami 6 has been lifted off the frame at some point in the nineties and the car is very nice underneath. The last and therefore also the final inspection was done on 2021-05-21.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

A well-known and willing two-cylinder air-cooled boxer engine, here also equipped with a centrifugal clutch, for little-Cittra enthusiasts. Put it in 1st gear, release the clutch and the car will start rolling when you increase the revs. When you turn off the engine, you can hear the clutch spinning, so it's a good idea to pull the parking brake, let it spin to a stop and then put it in a gear for parking. The underbody with frame and body floor is rare and clean, a couple of the shock absorbers, the rear ones, seem to have been recently changed. The engine compartment is also dry and clean, no oil leakage from valve covers or trays.

  • Interior condition:

Fresh and inviting in its simplicity; complete, clean and matching. Nice clothing and carpets, and a good ceiling. In the middle of the panel there is also an exciting and stylish original accessory radio.

  • Exterior condition:

Original paint in its original color and, as usual with old Citroëns, also with a beautiful name, Vert Charmille. A few minor scratches and a small indication at the bottom of the left A-pillar, otherwise a very representative and presentable exterior. A vintage roof rack in mint condition from Hillerstorp Sweden means that it is simply a New Old Stock Thule rack (before the company became Thule, that is) and that it nicely frames the car's practical appeal.

  • General condition:

A cohesive charm in a pleasant condition, a slightly more civilized flower in the brand's then-flora of 2CV-based cars, but no less character. A car to take care of and also acquire care knowledge from those within the Swedish Citroën Club who know the type, and then just enjoy the car as it is.

Facts about the model

The Citroën Ami model was produced between 1961 and 1979. The car was front-wheel-driven and based on the same technology as the 2CV model. Together with its sister model Dyane, introduced a few years later, it was meant to offer a slightly more spacious and luxurious alternative to the rustic 2CV. Ami was the larger of the two models and became a success in its home country France, where it was sometimes the most sold car model on the market. Ami 6 was produced from 1961 to 1971 and Ami 8 from 1969 to 1979. From 1972 there was also an Ami Super with a one-liter engine from the GS. All models were available as Berline (sedan), Break (station wagon) and Service (a Break in van version). The sedan version of the Ami 6 was distinguished by its sloping rear window, similar to the Ford Anglia 1959-68. The Ami 8 sedan had a more semi-estate-like rear end.
