Description

Horex was a small manufacturer of motorcycles of the highest quality and therefore expensive with very little production. Very few were exported, but a few came to Sweden, including this one, which is a renovation project. A few parts are missing, i.e. the seat cushion that is completely wrong and may be from a 60's Triumph at best. There are no Swedish papers but it has been in traffic into the 1970s so it should be possible to get a registration.

Comment from the owner: The bike is a Horex Columbus 400 cc 1954 according to the previous owner who bought it at auction. Horex Regina was called Columbus in the export market.

The Horex factory was started in 1923 in Bad Homburg, Germany by Fritz Kleemann. From 1935 to the mid-1950s, the company was called Horex-Columbus-Werk K.G. After that, until Mercedes Benz bought the factory in 1960, and closed it down, the company went by the name Horex-Werke KG. Horex manufactured a whole range of different models and engines, but not in large numbers. Both single-cylinder and two-cylinder parallel-Twin. A few of the 2855 Regina and 2420 Imperator manufactured between 1948 and 1955 have survived outside Germany.

Facts about the model
