"Finished in a rare and attractive Tahoe Green Metallic, this Volvo presents in exceptionally well-kept and highly presentable condition. After spending more than 30 years off the road and stored in a garage, it has now been recommissioned and returned to service. The engine and gearbox perform well, making this a charming classic"

Description

The current owner had serviced the previous owner's cars for many years and recently purchased this Volvo. The story behind the car is a sad one. The previous owner inherited it in 1996 after the passing of his son. By then, the Volvo had last been inspected and driven in 1991 and was then parked away in the family's garage, where it remained for over 30+ years.

Eventually, the owner asked his mechanic if he would like to buy the car, and a deal was agreed. Over the past two weeks, the Volvo has been recommissioned and returned to the road. It has been fully serviced and reviewed throughout, including an overhaul of the brake system, new tyres, a new exhaust, and minor welding repairs to the sill and spare wheel well. The lower body has also been repainted due to a few small paint blisters. The car will be delivered with a fresh and final inspection, ready for its next chapter and owner.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition

The car starts easily with a little choke and only needs a few minutes to warm up properly. On the road, it feels solid and reassuring, with a smooth, easy-shifting manual gearbox and good brakes. After spending more than 30 years off the road, it has been thoroughly recommissioned, with worn components replaced as required, including a new cambelt and brake cylinder. It will be delivered with a fresh inspection and sits on a lovely set of spoke alloy wheels fitted with brand-new tyres.

  • Interior condition

interior is original and well preserved. The brown cloth seats remain in good condition, with a few small holes in the rear seat. The door cards, side panels, and carpets present well, while the headliner has a slight sag in the centre. The dashboard is undamaged, retaining its original gauges and a working radio. The only issue noted is that the driver's door storage pocket has come loose and needs refitting.

  • Exterior condition

A nice and highly presentable Volvo with straight body panels and good panel gaps, showing no dents or major rust issues. The sills and spare wheel well have been repaired, and the lower sections of both sides of the car have been repainted. A few small paint blisters can be found around the top edge of the windscreen scuttle and one or two around the upper edges of the doors, along with a 15 cm scratch on the bonnet.

The underbody is clean and tidy with no standout rust concerns. The paintwork remains bright and presentable, complemented by good bumpers and trim throughout.

  • General condition

A lovely-looking Volvo finished in a rare and desirable colour combination. Most surviving 245s have covered huge mileages and suffer from significant rust issues, but this example has avoided both, making it a particularly appealing car for any Volvo enthusiast.
