Description
The car has had only three owners, with the current owner acquiring it in 2024.
The vehicle was primarily used by the second owner, who purchased it lightly used in 1978 and kept it until 2024. At the time of purchase, the car had covered 29,910 km, according to the preserved inspection report. Included with the car is a complete binder containing inspection reports, service receipts, repair invoices, and other historical documentation. The odometer currently reads 99,860 km. While this cannot be guaranteed, the mileage progression shown in the preserved records is logical and consistent, giving us no reason to believe otherwise.
The current owner acquired the car when the second owner stopped driving due to age.
Included with the car are the owner’s manual, workshop manual, a complete binder of historical records, a spare wheel, and a jack. Three older winter tires of historical interest are also included; together with the spare wheel (which has a winter tread pattern), they were used during winter driving. The previous owner carried out a refurbishment of the car in the late 1990s, including a full repaint, and since then the vehicle has been driven only during the summer months.
Technical data
Condition
-
Mechanical condition
Powered by a 2.3-litre inline six-cylinder engine producing 120 hp, paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. The engine starts easily and runs smoothly without any unusual noises. Like most vehicles with older technology, it prefers to be warmed up before driving; otherwise, some throttle input is needed to prevent stalling. A carburettor cleaning and service are recommended.
The automatic transmission shifts normally. We did not test the heating system (the cabin fan is operational) because the heater control valves appeared oxidized, and we did not want to risk causing a leak. This should be investigated by the buyer.
During the test drive, there was a slight tendency for the brakes to drag. We believe one of the rear brake calipers may be sticking slightly. A brake inspection and service are recommended before undertaking longer journeys with the car. -
Interior condition
Original interior from 1975. Attractive and well maintained. The driver's seat cushion shows wear with a few minor damages. Overall, the interior is in significantly better condition than is typical for this model. Crack-free dashboard. Clean and intact headliner. Equipped with original Mercedes rubber floor mats. Period-correct Philips car radio, although its functionality is unverified.
-
Exterior condition
Older repaint in good condition. On the upper section of the right rear fender, there are some filler blistering defects in a localized area. There is a small dent at the lower edge of the right rear fender, and paint loss with light surface rust is present on the front edge of the left front fender. A few minor paint blisters can be found at the bottom of the driver’s door. Please refer to the photographs.
The tires are in good condition, with a date code from 2018. -
General condition
Only three owners since new. Well-maintained driver-quality condition, ranking in the upper range for the model. Mercedes' renowned build quality means it remains a comfortable car to drive, although it is not intended to set any speed records.
