Extensive receipts and a number of inspection reports are included as documentation.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

Starts and runs well. During a short test drive, the 302 V8 and C4 automatic transmission performed as they should. The braking system has been upgraded with front disc brakes. The power-operated convertible top opens and closes without issue.

The engine is fitted with polished chrome valve covers but is otherwise said to be original. It’s now equipped with an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor and headers, giving it a bit more power. Other upgrades include an electronic ignition system and front disc brakes.

  • Interior condition:

The red vinyl upholstery is in good condition and appears to match the original specification. The red carpet has faded somewhat over the years. The dashboard has a visible hairline crack, as shown in the photos. The weatherstripping around the convertible top is relatively new. The soft top itself is estimated to be 15–20 years old and is clean and intact. A spare wheel with a steel rim is included, but the jack is missing.

  • Exterior condition:

Repainted in white some years ago. Some touch-ups and paint bubbles are visible, mainly along the lower edges of the doors, which have also had welding repairs. The modern 17-inch American Racing alloy wheels are in good condition and fitted with relatively new tires—though the tread patterns and brands differ between the front and rear axles.

  • General condition:

    A well-maintained Mustang convertible in road-ready, user-friendly condition.

Facts about the model

Few car models become an instant success the very day they go on sale—but the Ford Mustang did just that in 1964, with 22,000 units sold on day one. Even fewer models have maintained the level of desirability that the Mustang has sustained over the decades.

From the beginning, styling played a major role, and throughout the 1960s the design gradually became more muscular. Starting with the 1969 model year, the body became both longer and slightly wider than the previous year, while handling was also improved. The four-headlight setup became standard and is a hallmark of the 1969 model year—since the two grille-mounted headlights disappeared already the following year.
