"A Charleston that immediately exudes a lot of potential for a 2CV enthusiast. A fact-like version and low mileage make this a cost-effective and ideal 2CV to refine into a wonderful original condition with relatively little effort."

Description

Manufactured on a spring day in the final production year in France, May 5, 1987 (indicated by the four-digit ORGA number under the hood) at Citroën’s classic factory in Levallois, central Paris. It arrived in Sweden from Denmark the same year in September through the active 2CV importer Club 800 in Stenungsund. It is likely a Denmark-specific car, visible in details like side indicators and headrests. The car is also thoroughly rust-proofed. A 19-year-old received the car as a fantastic student gift the following year. He drove it relatively sparingly, though there is a service note from 1992 at 3,130 kilometers. The owner then took the car to his studies in the United Kingdom and apparently imported it there, returning it to Sweden on August 9, 1999, when he moved back home. Since 2009, it has been off the road, and earlier this year, the car received extensive servicing and passed inspection on January 25, 2024. The history from its initial registration in 1987 with the registration number NLS758 should be traceable through the National Archives or the Vehicle Registry. Today, that number is associated with a deregistered Honda from 2006.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

The engine, gearbox, and chassis retain a tight and pleasant original feel. Despite a period of extended inactivity, it’s advisable to lubricate the kingpins and spring packs preventively. Adjusting the height can be done with accessible guidance, such as the A-section of the Swedish Citroën Club, and checking the condition of the shock absorbers is also recommended.

  • Interior condition:

The seat upholstery is sun-damaged and very easy and inexpensive to replace. An alternative is to purchase a nice seat cover. New upholstery in original design, for example, costs 2794 SEK at the 2CV specialist Full Fart AB in Uddevalla, more commonly known at www.2cv.se. In addition, the original rubber mats are intact and clean, the steering wheel with its single spoke is at the correct angle, and the turn signal and light controls have been restored to their original straight position since the photos were taken. There is some surface rust in the joints on the floor between the body and the frame, but the frame and the body floor are solid and in good condition.

  • Exterior condition:

The original paint has some small marks on the bonnet, a small dent on the right rear door, and some surface rust on the ventilation flap at the bottom right B-pillar. These can be left as they are, but can also be easily addressed with careful spot blasting. Removing the ventilation flap is not difficult either if you wish to repaint (keep the rubber seal on and mask carefully). The original rims have some surface rust, older but good Michelin X tires, and the rear bumper is painted in gray color code AC140. The bumpers should be painted in silver metallic (Gris Métallisée code GVT or FVT) as well as the rims.

  • General condition:

This is a road-ready and nice Charleston that needs a series of small adjustments to become a really pleasant gray/gray 2CV6 Charleston with lots of untouched low-mileage future potential.
