"It’s a ready-to-drive, inspection-exempt car that can be enjoyed as-is. Only minor rust and cosmetic fixes are needed. These cars are becoming increasingly attractive and harder to find."

Description

This is a Swedish-sold car from new, with a total of seven owners. The first owner kept the car for 30 years, the second for 15, and the current owner bought it two years ago. Since then, it has been used as a summer car and shown at local car events.

The car presents well overall. Some repair work has been carried out around the rear wing edges, and the lower body panels have been repainted in a slightly darker shade—though this is hard to notice in the photos. There are signs of older welding repairs on the underbody and a few paint blisters around the bodywork, mainly near the windscreen. Rust is also present on the inner lower wings.

The interior is in great condition and has been well cared for. The engine and gearbox both perform as they should, and the car runs and drives well.

The mileage 159943 km matches previous inspection records, and the car comes with some older receipts and inspection reports.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition

Starts instantly, and the B20 engine runs well—known for being virtually bulletproof. The automatic gearbox shifts smoothly, the car feels stable on the road, and the brakes perform well. Recent maintenance includes a new heater element, oil service, and replacement of the brake discs and rear exhaust three years ago. Fitted with good wheels and tires. The car is inspection-exempt forever.

  • Interior condition

Interior is very neat and tidy, with no damage to the seats—just a small crack on the edge of the driver’s seat (see pictures). The door cards, panels, carpets, and headliner are all in good condition. The dashboard is complete, with no damage, and all gauges are working.

  • Exterior condition

As mentioned, the car has had previous repair work—like most models of this era, it has been affected by rust. Please review the photos, where key areas are highlighted. The inner front lower wings will need repair, while various paint blisters are visible in other areas but are less urgent. The underbody shows signs of older welding repairs but appears solid overall. The paintwork is presentable, though much of the lower panels have been repainted in a slightly darker shade.

  • General condition

An ideal summer car for anyone looking for a reliable and stylish 1970s Volvo. With its iconic color scheme, it can be enjoyed as-is, with cosmetic improvements made gradually over time.
