Description

A lavishly designed and stylish Norton Cafe Racer. The Norton 650 SS from 1963 features a Featherbead slimline frame fitted with a 750cc Norton Atlas engine. The slimline frame provides excellent road handling without being too wide over the saddle. The cylinder head is from a 750 Norton Commando, ensuring smooth performance from the engine. An oil filter and oil tap have been installed, with the tap equipped with a loud alarm. Some Norton riders prefer a tap to prevent oil from seeping into the crankcase, while others do not. This tap can be easily removed if desired. The aluminum tank has been painted by a professional approved by Rolls Royce. The front brake has been replaced with a twin-leading-shoe Commando brake. The exhaust silencers are Dunstall, producing a beautiful sound appreciated even by neighbors. The transmission and clutch have been replaced with a beltdrive, eliminating oil leakage in the transmission. The motorcycle is also equipped with electronic ignition and discreet small indicators. A folder containing receipts totaling 78,000 SEK from the previous owner is included. This does not include the Belt Drive kit for 8,000 SEK purchased by the current owner from Holland Norton works.

Facts about the model

The Norton 650SS, also known as the 650 Sports Special, was introduced in 1962 and produced until 1967. The model was an evolution of Norton’s earlier Dominator series, specifically the 600cc Dominator 99. By increasing the cylinder volume to 646cc and refining both the engine and chassis, Norton aimed to create a motorcycle that would set new standards for performance and handling in the sportbike category.
