"A pleasant and fine light truck that works equally well as a utility vehicle or as a participant in the show car section at an enthusiast meet. The vehicle has been gently but thoroughly upgraded over the years."

Description

This vehicle was registered for traffic in Sweden in July 1979. The most recent owner acquired it in May 1981. He was a well-known enthusiast and figure in the motor hobby scene for many decades, having started building Hot Rods back in the 50s. In his work, he was known for building roll bars, but he had comprehensive knowledge in racing, motor mechanics, and always took excellent care of his cars.

The Chevrolet truck was his loyal companion for many years. In 2011, he had Danielssons Bilservice AB install a 350ci engine, a new radiator, and performed all the work to fine-tune the details. The truck also received new disc brakes all around, modification of the drive axles, and a four-wheel alignment. Additionally, new wheels and tires were installed. The following year, the transmission, oil cooler, and heating unit were repaired. In 2014, the heads were refurbished, including valve grinding and seat milling, as well as polishing the ports. He also had Alfa Bilklädsel reupholster the bench seat. The bed was replaced, and a new bumper and grill were installed.

The truck is equipped with a canopy and towing equipment. Some documentation and receipts for the major work are included.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

Starts easily and the engine and other mechanics sound fine. There was no opportunity for a full test drive, but during a short drive around the yard, everything seemed to function well. As with all vehicles that have been stationary for a while, an inspection is recommended. It has not been checked on a lift, but what could be seen gave a robust and good impression.

  • Interior condition:

Good interior with a used patina. The bench seat is in nicely reupholstered condition, as are the door panels, dashboard, and headliner. The carpets are in good condition, with extra protective mats. The vehicle has been fitted with a glass roof. Otherwise, it remains original with some updates and a different steering wheel. It includes a cassette stereo, a classic Handic Police Radio 006, and an AC unit. The functionality of these items has not been tested.

  • Exterior condition:

The paint, chrome, glass, bed, and canopy are in good condition with some patina from use. The wheels and tires are in good condition, with a few rust spots on the wheels that should be able to be polished to a finer finish.

  • General condition:

A pleasant, robust, and slightly modified vehicle that has spent 55 years on the roads. As both a utility vehicle and a classic car, this is a fine “Yankee” and enthusiast’s car in one package.

Facts about the model

Chevrolet was named after the Swiss-born race car driver Louis Chevrolet. The company was founded in 1911 and became part of General Motors in 1918. As early as 1912, they introduced a six-cylinder engine that would become iconic. Over the years, they produced everything from family cars and sports cars to “dollar grin” finned cars and utility vehicles (trucks). The first light trucks, the One-Ton, were launched in 1918.

A model series called C/K was introduced in 1960. These were light trucks with various rear body configurations. The second generation was built from the 1967 to 1972 model years and was called the Action Line. The basic concept remained similar in terms of engine and drivetrain construction, but the front body was upgraded and modernized. The trucks became increasingly car-like, featuring automatic transmissions, radios, carpets, and two-tone paint jobs. Starting in 1968, a large-block V8 engine option became available for the trucks.

The third generation, introduced in 1973 and called the Rounded Line, was produced until 1991. The development and later iterations of these trucks are another story.
