"Finished in classic Italian Rosso, the motorcycle presents in clean and attractive condition throughout."

Description

This attractive red Moto Guzzi has been restored and was acquired by the current owner from an estate several years ago. While little is known about its detailed history, it has formed part of a collection of well-preserved motorcycles ever since.

The motorcycle has remained unregistered and has not been started during the current owner's stewardship. Reliable information regarding the exact model is difficult to establish, but it appears to be a 1950s Moto Guzzi Zigolo Lusso, powered by a 98cc engine. Its charming proportions, elegant Italian styling, and period character make it a particularly appealing collector's piece from Moto Guzzi's post-war era.

Facts about the model

The Moto Guzzi Zigolo Lusso was a popular Italian lightweight motorcycle of the 1950s, developed as an affordable, reliable, and fuel-efficient means of transportation for post-war Italy. The model was introduced in 1953 as an intermediate offering between the 65cc Guzzino and the 175cc Galletto, while the Lusso version followed a year later with more luxurious trim, distinctive red paintwork, and additional chrome detailing.

The motorcycle was powered by an air-cooled 98cc single-cylinder two-stroke engine producing approximately 4 horsepower, coupled to a three-speed gearbox and capable of a top speed of around 76 km/h (47 mph). Despite its modest performance, the Zigolo earned widespread praise for its excellent fuel economy, simple construction, and comfortable riding characteristics.

With more than 100,000 examples produced, the Zigolo became one of Moto Guzzi’s most successful motorcycles for everyday transportation. Engine capacity was later increased to 110cc before production finally came to an end in 1966.
