Condition

  • Mechanical condition

The engine and transmission work together smoothly and effortlessly, while the brakes and chassis feel well sorted and reassuring on the road. The engine bay is clean and well presented. The rear axle shows some minor surface rust, but it could be easily cleaned up with a wire brush and refinished with paint if desired.

  • Interior condition

The interior is impeccable, featuring elegant carpets, seats, and door panels, all presented in outstanding condition. The steering wheel, controls, and instruments are equally well preserved. A charming period detail is the set of small red lap belts, adding to the car’s authentic character and appeal.

  • Exterior condition

The car is finished in a beautiful shade of red and presents with straight bodywork and excellent panel fit. There are a few minor marks consistent with normal use. According to the owner, the car is meant to be driven and enjoyed—and that is exactly how it has been used since his purchase in 2011.

It is fitted with attractive hubcaps and Primewell budget tires from 2008, which still have good tread depth. The convertible top is clean, free from damage, and operates properly.

  • General condition

Beautifully restored while retaining its original character and charm. At the same time, it is not an over-restored showpiece destined for a trailer, but rather a well-preserved classic that can be driven, enjoyed, and appreciated as intended.

Facts about the model

The Ford Mustang was unveiled to the public for the first time on April 17, 1964, at the New York World's Fair. The reception was nothing short of sensational, with eager buyers flocking to Ford dealerships across the country. Cars produced before August 1964 are often unofficially referred to as “1964½” models, although all were officially registered as 1965 model-year vehicles.

The driving force behind the Mustang concept was Ford executive Lee Iacocca. To keep production costs and the purchase price competitive, the Mustang was based on the proven mechanical components of the Ford Falcon family car. Despite its familiar underpinnings, the styling was revolutionary, featuring a long hood, short rear deck, and sporty proportions that created an entirely new market segment.

The convertible played a major role in the Mustang’s early success, offering affordable luxury, sporty design, and an unmatched sense of freedom for a younger generation of buyers. Ford had hoped to sell around 100,000 cars during the first year. Reality far exceeded expectations: during the first full model year in 1965, more than 559,000 Mustangs were sold, including over 73,000 convertibles.

The model quickly established itself as a cultural icon, becoming a familiar presence in films, music videos, fashion photography, and popular culture around the world.
