"An exceptionally well-presented Corvette, both inside and out. It delivers strong performance and runs beautifully. A true pleasure to drive, although some steering correction is required at higher speeds."

Description

The car was acquired by its current owner in Los Angeles, California, in 2018. Prior to being imported to Sweden, it was repainted in its original factory color by a highly regarded specialist and fitted with a completely new interior. It was imported and registered in Sweden in 2019 and has since been meticulously maintained and driven exclusively during the summer months. The car was also an award winner at the 10th Anniversary Forsmark Meet.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition

The car performs very well and has been well maintained throughout its life. The brakes operate smoothly and evenly, with no tendency to pull to either side. The driver's door lock occasionally sticks and would benefit from attention. The tachometer is currently inaccurate and does not display the correct engine speed.

  • Interior condition

The interior has been completely renewed and is presented in excellent condition, with nothing of note to fault.

  • Exterior condition

Professionally repainted in the United States in 2018 and still presented in outstanding condition. The chrome trim is complete and remains in excellent condition throughout. The car rides on new tires fitted to its original wheels. A matching-color hardtop is included and is likewise in superb condition. The convertible top is new; however, it has shrunk and can no longer be fitted properly.

  • General condition

An absolutely stunning automobile that delivers an unforgettable driving experience and attracts attention wherever it goes. A guaranteed crowd favorite at car shows and exhibitions, with the presence and quality to stand out among the very best.

Facts about the model

The Chevrolet Corvette C1 was the first generation of the Corvette and was introduced in 1953 as America’s answer to the popular European sports cars of the era. The first 300 examples were hand-built and featured a fiberglass body—an innovative solution that was well ahead of its time.

Early models were powered by a six-cylinder engine that fell short of true sports car expectations, but in 1955 the Corvette received a V8 engine, a development that ultimately saved the model from cancellation. Over the following years, the car evolved with updated styling, improved performance, and technical innovations such as fuel injection.

In 1961, the Corvette adopted its now-famous dual taillights, a design feature that would become one of the model’s most recognizable trademarks. The final C1 was produced in 1962 and equipped with a potent 327-cubic-inch V8 engine producing up to 360 horsepower, making it the fastest and most powerful version of the first-generation Corvette. Approximately 69,000 C1 Corvettes were built between 1953 and 1962.
