"In good overall condition for daily use, in an attractive color that sets it apart from the crowd."

Description

During its first year, this car served as a test vehicle at Saab. It was painted in a unique blue metallic color before being sold to a private individual in Mellerud in 1991. After a brief period in Åhus, it ended up with the current owner in 1992. In recent years, it has been used less frequently. Peter Bäcktröm, Curator at the Saab Museum, commented on the car as follows: "This is a former test vehicle that was painted in a new color for evaluation by the design department. Over the years, there have been some Saabs sold with test colors that didn't go into series production. This seems to be one of them."

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

The car was delivered new with an Eberspächer engine heater with a timer. Overall, the car feels lively and solid. However, there are a few points that need attention. The turbo gauge doesn't quite keep up, and the power windows and electric antenna have a slight tendency to stick. There is also a slight noise from one of the drive shafts during turns.

  • Interior condition:

Well-maintained and unmodified, except for the replacement of the stereo system. According to information, the rear sound system was likely present from the beginning, perhaps even during its time as a test car. However, the speaker elements have been replaced at some point. The upholstery and carpets are intact and in good condition. The driver's seat is slightly worn, which is normal considering its age, but there are no holes. The headliner has started to come loose, a common issue with these models. The trunk is in excellent condition, with the spare wheel and original tools in place.

  • Exterior condition:

Very good, original paint with code 199, which in Saab's list is listed as 'test color - not available for public'. There are some scratches and stone chips, as well as a few small rust bubbles that have appeared on the tailgate. The Aero side skirts are in good condition with a few small gaps. There are no notable issues with the bumpers and wheels, which are in very good condition. The doors, seams, and undercarriage are also in good condition. The sunroof and the edges around it are in nice shape. There is a small crack, approximately 5cm, visible on the right side of the windshield.

  • General condition:

A well-maintained car in largely untouched original condition, with just over 160 000 km on the odometer, is considered sparingly driven over 33 years. The unique color stands out from the crowd.
