Facts about the model

Austin A30 was produced between 1951 and 1956, and then continued with an updated engine as the A35 until 1968. When deliveries to customers began in May 1952, it was Austin's first car with a monocoque body. The two-door version was introduced the following year, and after a little while, the estate version was added.

The A30 was the first to feature BMC's four-cylinder A-series engine with a displacement of 803 cubic centimeters, which would be produced for nearly 50 years.

Regarding the performance of the new A35 engine, according to Staton Abbey's book "The Book of the Austin A30 and A35" (1969), during tests conducted on German autobahns, three small Austins were driven flat out all day, averaging 60 mph for 25,000 miles. This amazed drivers of much larger cars who were passed by these Austins.
