"The car runs excellently and performs very well. It carries a beautifully patinated exterior that gives it a charming and distinctive presence."

Description

The car was acquired by the current owner for his collection in 2020. It was already in good condition but required new fenders. He sourced NOS fenders, which were painted black before installation, while deliberately leaving the beautifully patinated bodywork untouched.

The car was originally finished in steel blue but was repainted brown sometime during the 1960s or 1970s. Traces of the original color still remain preserved in the engine bay.

Since then, the car has been driven sparingly during the summer months and maintained regularly.

The car runs beautifully and everything functions as it should. The brakes operate effectively without pulling to either side. Carefully maintained by a knowledgeable owner.

  • Interior condition

Complete interior in good condition. A light detailing would further enhance its appearance.

  • Exterior condition

The car was repainted sometime during the 1960s or 1970s and today carries a lovely patina with various touch-ups. New fenders were painted black and installed five years ago. The chrome is in fine condition, and the car sits on good tires mounted to the original wheels.

Facts about the model

B11 simply stands for Berline 11 — in other words, a sedan in the French 11CV tax class — featuring the then-exciting innovation of front-wheel drive, hence the model’s other well-known name: Traction Avant.

Its larger and more luxurious sister model, the B15, was accordingly placed in the 15CV tax class thanks to its bigger six-cylinder engine. And the small air-cooled Citroën 2CV belonged, naturally enough, to the much lower 2CV tax class.

“CV” stands for Cheval Vapeur — literally “steam horsepower” — an old French method of measuring engine output and determining a vehicle’s taxation category.
