"A special BMW model that has its advantages. Extremely well-maintained. No damage, no rust. Completely original. Great condition"

Description

The car came to Sweden in 2000 with a family from Germany, who moved here and had this as a second car. They had it until 2007, and drove a total of 120000 km. Since then, it has had three owners in Sweden, who all used it as a summer car. The car has been in the garage all its life and has never been driven in winter. This is the reason why it has done so well. Original paint all around and no damage or rust. Equally complete and nice on the inside and in the engine compartment.
The 316 model at this time had the same engine as the 318, at 100 hp, which makes the car surprisingly nimble, as it only weighs 1000kg, despite the detachable roof.
The Baur convertible model is particularly interesting as a collector car. The model was manufactured by the body company Baur in Stuttgart and sold through BMW dealers, in parallel with BMW's own E30 cab models. Baur developed a concept for BMW with a special cab design, which they obtained a patent for. the name TC stands for "Top-Cabrio". The car has a targa frame and removable targa roof (which you insert on a shelf in the trunk) and then a fold-down rear window. This way you get a much safer car while you have almost full cab feeling inside the car. From the outside, the car looks more like a coupe model. The first version was developed for the important US market in the late 1960s, at the same time as Porsche developed its Targa roof (also in Stuttgart). Namely, there would be rules in the United States banning fully open cars in some states, for safety reasons. Such rules did not come, however, so Porsche showed its fully open cab in 1993 and BMW's came in 1987. However, the Baur cab continued to be sought after as it was quieter (less wind noise), safer and more practical (as it could attach roof racks etc.) . Today a sought-after model among BMW enthusiasts and collectors.
