"The car has been fully renovated and lovingly maintained, reflecting the exceptional care it has received throughout its life. Not only does it present beautifully—it’s also a great car to drive, offering the classic British sports car experience at its best."

Description

This MGB GT has had a total of five owners, including the current one—three private owners and one car dealer prior to 1976. The present owner purchased the car nearly 50 years ago and enjoyed it as his summer car for many years, including several memorable trips to the UK.

In the early 1980s, he decided to take the car off the road to begin a full renovation. It was completely stripped down to its components and the work began in earnest. However, due to family and work commitments, the project took longer than expected and was finally completed almost 15 years later—just before the owner’s 50th birthday. The car passed its first inspection after the restoration in 1996 and has since been driven sparingly and only in summer, always maintained to the highest standard.

Without exaggeration, this is one of the best MGBs I’ve driven in years.

The car comes with a wealth of documentation, including historical inspection reports, service receipts, ownership history, and a certified British Heritage Certificate confirming it is a fully matching numbers example.

No corners were cut during the renovation. Here is a general summary of the work performed:

Engine fully overhauled with a new camshaft, polished valves, new gaskets, and replacement of all worn components.
Ancillaries replaced: fuel and water pumps, alternator, belts, and more.
Brand-new wiring harness installed.
Fuel system fully renewed.
Rear window heater added.
Full brake system and suspension renewed.
Gearbox and overdrive reviewed with any worn parts replaced.
Body stripped to bare metal, with necessary repairs to lower panels, then fully repainted in the original Teal Blue.
Interior in good original condition and carefully reinstalled.
Restoration carried out by the owner in collaboration with specialists.

Photos from the restoration process are included. Although the renovation was completed nearly 30 years ago, the car still presents beautifully in all respects. This is a true enthusiast’s car—well preserved, well maintained, and ready to be enjoyed by its next owner.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

The car starts instantly and runs smoothly, with a strong and responsive engine. It’s a real pleasure to drive, featuring a nicely shifting gearbox with working overdrive, sharp road handling, and solid brakes. The mileage is 109,691 km from new, and it still retains its original engine and original double set of keys. A nice touch is the addition of wire wheels with good tires. It is inspection-exempt and ready to be driven home and enjoyed straight away.

  • Interior condition:

Interior is original and well preserved, showing careful ownership throughout. There are no damages to report, and the boot area is clean and neatly presented. The dashboard and instrumentation are all fully functional, with everything working as it should.

  • Exterior condition:

Bodywork is straight with no visible damage or signs of rust, which is consistent with the clean and solid condition of the underbody. The paintwork is bright and presentable throughout, with a light orange peel texture in some areas—something that could be easily improved with a good polish. The chrome trim is clean and shiny, showing only minimal signs of oxidation.

  • General condition:

Any MG enthusiast would be proud to own this car. It’s a great driver with strong performance and classic good looks. There’s nothing that needs doing—just get in, drive, and enjoy.
