Description

The Gilera 124 is a classic Italian lightweight motorcycle that paired sporty styling with the reliable performance Gileras were known for in the 1960s and ’70s. Aimed primarily at young riders, it served both as an everyday machine and for light competition. Both the previous and current owner used it mainly for short local rides in the southern Dalarna region. The current owner has had the bike for three years. This Gilera remains in beautifully cared-for, original condition and is a genuine low-miler with just 9,060 km on the clock, still wearing its factory paint. It’s easy to kick-start and a delight to ride on back roads—the dry weight is only 100 kg. Originally sold in Sweden, its last successful inspection was in August 2009, and it’s been off the road since September 2011. It comes with some documentation, including receipts and a parts catalogue—see photos.

Facts about the model

The Gilera 124 was more than just a means of transport. It was freedom, style, and speed. With its four-stroke, air-cooled single?cylinder 123 cc engine, it delivered just enough power to feel the wind biting at your jacket—but not so much as to be intimidating. It was an engine that taught you how to wrench, tune, and understand your machine. The Gilera 124 became the gateway for many young riders into roadracing and enduro. With variants like the 124 Regolarità (for off-road) or the 5V Competizione (for the track), many young dreamers dared to imagine big. The model carried genuine motorsport DNA: simple to work on, easy to learn, and with the potential to go really fast—if you knew what you were doing. A youngster armed with a file, larger jets, and an open exhaust could coax far more performance than the factory’s official figures.
