"Fun to see a B in proper U.S. export spec—minus the speedometer, of course. Lively engine and solid on the road."

Description

A U.S. export that made its way back to England in the early 1990s, where it underwent restoration. The car was imported to Sweden in 1998 and sold in 2007 to a devoted MG enthusiast with English roots. The current owner took over in 2019 and has used it sparingly—though still managing to cover nearly 1,600 km during those years. One of the previous owners kept a detailed driving log, which now serves as a charming piece of history. The most recent approved inspection was carried out on June 4, 2021, at 14,599 km, and today the odometer reads 14,959 km.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition

The engine—or more specifically, the carburetors—respond best to careful use of the choke, but once running, the engine performs well in harmony with the gearbox and clutch. The chassis feels tight and free of unwanted noises. The clutch was replaced just 1,000 km ago, and a new starter motor has been recently installed. The windshield wipers operate at only one speed, for reasons unknown. The car is equipped with a thermostatically controlled electric fan, and there are traces of a previously installed oil cooler.

  • Interior condition

The interior was likely reupholstered during the 1990s restoration. The leather seats and carpets are clean, intact, and in great condition, complemented by a beautiful classic Moto-Lita sport steering wheel.

  • Exterior condition

Attractive paintwork in a British Racing Green variant known as Deep Brunswick Green. Some touch-ups are visible, the most noticeable one being behind the right rear wheel arch. If the roll bar isn’t to your taste, it’s easily removable—but if you like it, the soft top, tonneau cover, and hood cover all fit nicely with it in place. The car rides on high-quality, relatively recent Michelin XAS tires from 2017 in the correct 165 HR 14" size—about as stylish and period-correct as it gets for an MGB.

  • General condition

American-market version of the classic, presented in road-ready and user-friendly condition with all its distinctive details intact—such as the three windshield wipers and side marker lights.
