Description
The current owner acquired the car in 2016 and has enjoyed it on an occasional basis over the past decade. During the last eight years, it has covered only around 1,000 km.
As the car has seen very limited use in recent years, a light recommissioning service is recommended before regular driving. This should include fresh engine oil and filters, along with a general mechanical inspection.
A substantial history file accompanies the car, including previous inspection reports and the original owner's manual.
Technical data
Condition
-
Mechanical condition
The engine and gearbox both perform very well. The carburetor has recently been serviced, including cleaning and new gaskets. The tires are older and still have good tread depth, but they do show some minor age-related cracking.
-
Interior condition
The interior is generally in good condition and presents well overall. A thorough detailing would significantly enhance its appearance. There is some damage to the door trim, and the carpets are slightly stained in places, but in our opinion they should respond well to a professional cleaning.
-
Exterior condition
The paintwork retains a pleasing gloss and presents well overall. There are a few minor dents, including around the fuel filler area, on the doors, and on one of the fenders, but none detract significantly from the car's overall appearance. The vehicle may have been partially repainted at some point during its lifetime.
-
General condition
Overall, the car presents in very good driver-quality condition. A thorough detailing and a light recommissioning service are all that is recommended before it is ready to be enjoyed on the road once again.

Facts about the model
The 1971 Saab 96 V4 marked an important step in the model's evolution. It received a redesigned front end with rectangular headlights and became the first production car in the world to feature headlamp wipers as standard equipment—an innovation that would later become a Saab hallmark.
Power came from the proven 1.5-litre Ford V4 engine, producing 65 horsepower. Compared with the earlier two-stroke engine, the V4 offered improved performance, greater flexibility, and enhanced reliability, helping to secure the model's continued success during the 1970s.
With its robust construction, front-wheel-drive layout, and Saab's distinctive freewheel transmission, the Saab 96 V4 earned a reputation for durability and exceptional capability in demanding conditions. Today, it is regarded as one of Sweden's most cherished classic cars, supported by a passionate international enthusiast community and admired for its unique engineering and unmistakable character.
