"A true outlier in its class—and it's the engine that makes all the difference."

Description

The bike was delivered new to its first owner in Landskrona in October 2001 by Lillemans MC in Lund. She had it serviced there regularly, rode it extensively, and covered nearly 37,000 km before trading it in around 2010.

After a couple of subsequent owners, the current owner bought the bike in 2019 with approximately 50,000 km on the odometer. He has cared for and further improved it ever since, driven by a genuine passion for this type of motorcycle.

The most recent roadworthiness inspection was passed on 10 July 2024, with the odometer reading 55,980 km.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition

The flat-six's inherently smooth character makes the bike feel lighter than its weight suggests. It's far easier to pull away cleanly and effortlessly than on a thumping V-twin. And then there's the sound—beautiful with or without the silencers.

  • Exterior condition

The paint, leather, chrome and stainless steel all present beautifully with a deep shine. The bike is generously equipped with accessories throughout. The owner makes a clear distinction between clean and fully detailed, apologising that on the day of the photo session it had only been washed, not polished.

  • General condition

Well cared for, regularly enjoyed, and never left sitting idle for long—exactly the kind of life mechanical machinery thrives on. That's why just over 57,000 well-maintained kilometres on a 2001 long-distance cruiser should be seen as a virtue, not a drawback.

Facts about the model

The Honda GL1500C Valkyrie, marketed in Europe as the F6C (Flat Six Custom), was introduced by Honda in 1996 and remained in production until 2003. Developed and built in the United States, it was conceived as a dedicated power cruiser based on the Gold Wing's proven drivetrain, but with a stripped-down chassis and a more exposed, mechanical aesthetic.

At the heart of the Valkyrie is its liquid-cooled 1,520 cc flat-six engine. To adapt the Gold Wing powerplant for cruiser duty, Honda replaced the original dual-carburettor setup with six individual 28 mm carburettors, fitted revised camshafts, and developed a new exhaust system. These changes raised output to 100 hp and 130 Nm (96 lb-ft) of torque, delivered to the rear wheel through a shaft drive.

The 2001 model represents the final phase of the first-generation Valkyrie's production. While the mechanical platform remained essentially unchanged, Honda offered several distinctive paint schemes, including solid black and two-tone black/silver and blue/silver finishes.

Alongside the standard GL1500C, Honda also offered the Tourer, equipped with a windscreen and hard saddlebags, and the Interstate, which featured a full fairing and top case for long-distance touring.

Production ended after the 2003 model year, largely due to increasingly stringent emissions regulations. Today, the Valkyrie remains highly regarded on the used market, prized for its exceptional mechanical reliability and the unique character of its flat-six engine.
