"A charming two-stroke motorcycle that has been expertly restored. As the keys are missing, the machine could not be started or test ridden; however, the engine turns over freely and shows good compression. It requires a final inspection and recommissioning before it can be considered fully road-ready."

Description

The motorcycle was meticulously restored around 15 years ago by an enthusiast in southern Sweden. The current owner acquired it for his collection four years ago. As the keys were missing, the intention was to replace the ignition switch and recommission the motorcycle for a test ride. However, this work was never carried out, leaving it to the next owner to complete the final steps and bring the machine back to life.

Facts about the model

Adler was a German manufacturer based in Frankfurt that produced bicycles, automobiles, typewriters, and motorcycles. Following the Second World War, the company resumed motorcycle production, with its 250 cc models becoming the best-known motorcycles in the Adler range.

The Adler MB 250 was introduced in the early 1950s and featured an advanced air-cooled 247 cc twin-cylinder two-stroke engine paired with a four-speed gearbox. Its engineering was considered highly advanced for its era and later served as an inspiration for several Japanese motorcycle manufacturers.

1952 – The Adler M 250 was introduced as the company's largest motorcycle model.
1954 – The MB 250 was launched with a more modern frame and front suspension, receiving widespread praise from the motoring press.
1954–1955 – The sportier MB 250 S was introduced, offering increased power and a top speed of approximately 125 km/h (78 mph). Production is believed to have been very limited.
1956 – Adler unveiled the MBS series, featuring a modern swinging-arm rear suspension.
1957 – Motorcycle production came to an end as the motorcycle market collapsed, prompting Adler to focus exclusively on office machines.
