"A car driven in Northern Sweden that is not rusty, runs well but needs a new paint job to look really nice."

Description

The car has always been in Norrland and has remained free from rust. It was purchased by the current owner’s grandfather in Pajala in 2005, after being used as a second car by a neighbor since 1996. Prior to that, there was only one owner from new, also residing in Norrland.

The current owner bought the car from their grandfather in 2016 and brought it to Småland, where it was always off the road during winters.

Facts about the model

The Volvo 140 series was produced between 1966 and 1974, with the first model year being 1967. The large bumpers introduced on the final model year in 1974 were a result of legal requirements in the USA. However, many other changes in the last model year were related to increased safety. For example, a new seat frame design, the removal of the vent window in the front door for reduced noise, and a fully welded door frame for enhanced safety and stability. Additionally, the collapsible steering column was redesigned to improve safety in the final year of the Volvo 140 series.

The difference between the base version and a Deluxe model of the 1974 model year included the absence of rear vent windows, no clock, only rubber mats in the cabin, older style wheels and hubcaps, and a different type of upholstery in the base variant, which in this case featured all-black upholstery on seats and door panels. The base model corresponded to earlier “Favorite” models found in both the PV and Amazon series, serving as simpler basic models.
