"Svensson classic in an attractive understated and well-maintained condition with a good and well-known history, despite the lack of documentation."

Description

It was delivered new to its first owner in August 1978. He owned a car salvage yard and was a loyal customer of Volvo's new estate cars, including the Duett, 145, and 245.

His son took over the car in the mid-1990s, and a grandchild drove it for a summer before it returned to the first owner's son. The current owner, who is also related to the family, took over the car a year ago. He is a trained panel beater and conveniently works at Nilsson Special Vehicles AB in Laholm, a well-known Volvo-related company. This ensures that any minor rust issues at the rear have been properly addressed. In reality, the car has only had three owners who have actively used it: the Volvo enthusiast with the car salvage yard, his son, and the current owner, although the latter has only driven the car for just over 10 000 km in over 25 years.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

The engine and transmission feel good, and the failed inspection in 2016 was due to sticking brakes and no braking power. The current owner performed a brake service and replaced the master cylinder, which turned out to be the cause of the issue from 2016. A new rear brake caliper was also installed. Unfortunately, the car's documentation has been lost over the years, so it is recommended to have the timing belt replaced as there are no records indicating when it was last done.

  • Interior condition:

Nice and undamaged interior, but the front passenger seat has slightly faded fabric on the backrest. The cargo area is also in good condition, with the previous owner having had special protection throughout the space, even when folded down. The headliner is good as well.

  • Exterior condition:

The car has been professionally repainted in its original color and repaired in the typical spare wheel well areas at the back. Some small New Old Stock (NOS) parts have been added afterwards, such as door handles, rear position lights, and new hubcaps. Currently, it is difficult to find new bumpers, so the typical auxiliary lights have been mounted in the bumper holes but are not connected.

  • General condition:

There is something extra cool about a solid grey 245 in the simplest version with an all-black interior, especially when it is in a neat and presentable condition.
