Description

This Clearance Vehicle was built in the USA in 1981 and was registered in Sweden in August 1982. It was assigned the military registration number 95766 for service in the Air Force. In July 2018, it was decommissioned and registered for civilian use. After two previous owners, the current owner acquired the vehicle two years ago. He is an enthusiast who has a collection of classic military and government vehicles. The vehicle occasionally rotates within his collection, and now this military-historical classic is available for sale. It comes with interesting original documents such as the Vehicle Building Order from Jeep, Registration Certificate from the Air Force, as well as information and instruction manuals. At the time of the photoshoot, the vehicle had not been inspected, but it will be inspected and roadworthy at the time of the auction.

Facts about the model

The Jeep Gladiator (later renamed Pickup) is a full-size pickup truck based on the Jeep Wagoneer. It was sold between 1962 and 1988. During these 26 years, only minor mechanical changes were made. It was offered with straight-six and V8 engines, all gasoline-powered. It was available in both two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations.

Around 450 Jeep J20 vehicles were imported to Sweden in the years 1981/1982 for the Air Force base battalions. These vehicles were used by maintenance troops for personnel transportation and for towing trailers with maintenance equipment. With the help of a front-mounted tow bar, the vehicles could also be used for aircraft maneuvering. The vehicles were decommissioned around 2006 and most of them were placed in storage, but they were put back into service in 2016. In the early 2020s, they were replaced by the Terrängbil 15 as maintenance vehicles.
