Owner's comment

Engine for Porsche 996 (1999-2001). Engine code M99.01. The engine has a total mileage of approximately 160,000 km and originally had a damaged crankshaft. A healthy crankshaft was sourced from another engine where oil and water had mixed. Bearings, piston rings, and all seals were replaced, and the engine was reassembled. During the process, a healthy engine was found and installed in the car, leaving this engine as a spare. Before turning it over, it’s recommended to check the timing chain settings. The engine has not been test-run but was assembled by the previous owner, who has extensive experience with air-cooled models. What you see in the pictures is included. Parts from the scrapped engine are also included, along with an additional engine block, which may be cracked due to oil and water mixing.

Facts about the model

The 996 Carrera models are powered by the M96 engine, a water-cooled, naturally aspirated flat-six engine. This marked a significant evolution from the previous air-cooled 911 engines, bringing Porsche engineering into the 21st century.

From 1999 to 2001, the 3.4L engine was the sole option available across the Carrera lineup. In 2002, the 996 received an update, which introduced a larger and more powerful 3.6L engine. This updated engine featured a revised timing chain system and a variable valve lift system, enhancing performance and reliability.
