This car model, the Austin A35 Saloon, formerly nicknamed "Tie Knot" or "Meatball," is in a nice, renovated condition. It has been meticulously stripped to bare metal and repainted. The engine and drivetrain, as well as the braking system, have been overhauled by a previous owner. The interior shows some wear, with a crack in the fabric of the back seat, as seen in the picture. As of 2023, the car has passed inspection and is ready to drive. The A30/A35 was Austin's first car with a unibody design and was developed to compete with the Morris Minor. Mechanical condition
The car sounds good in both the engine and transmission. It was not test-driven over a longer distance as the road conditions were not optimal at the time of the photography session.

Interior condition
The car retains its original upholstery on the seats and backseat. There is a crack and a small hole in the vinyl of the backseat. It has new floor mats. The headliner is slightly discolored at some seams, as seen in the picture.

Exterior condition
Recently repainted in 2023. Most of the chrome work is in good condition. The rubber seals are somewhat dry.

Facts about the model
The Austin A30 was manufactured between 1951 and 1956, and then with a modernized engine as the A35 until 1968. When customer deliveries began in May 1952, it was Austin's first car with a unibody design. The two-door version was added the following year, and a few years later, the estate version was introduced.
The A30 was the first to use BMC's four-cylinder A-series engine of 803 cc, which continued to be produced for nearly 50 years.
Regarding the performance of the new engine in the A35, from Staton Abbey's "The Book of the Austin A30 and A35" (1969, Pitman Press, p. 148):
"...The new cars were thoroughly proved by tests carried out on the German autobahnen, during which drivers of much larger cars were astonished to be passed by three small Austins which were being driven flat out all day, averaging

General information about the condition of the vehicles .
- At this auction, many vehicles have been included in car collections and have been stored (mothballed) for a long time. For this reason, they are described from a collector's perspective and may need technical reviews and maintenance service - oil, battery replacement, new tires, brake review, etc. - before they can be used. .
- During the auction days information about a vehicle may be updated up to the day before the auction ends. When you bid at the end of the auction period - and also if you have made an earlier bid - we therefore ask you to read the descriptions carefully, in case something has been changed due to new information.
Important to know before placing your bids!
- Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
- When you need to retrieve a called in object we want you to examine it carefully. If you consider that the item does not match our description you do not need to complete the purchase. In this case the deposited purchase sum and the entry fee are refunded.
- If you do not examine the item on the spot the call charge will be debited, but you do not have to complete the deal.
- If you make the entire purchase exclusively at a distance you have 14 days to cancel, but must return the item at your own expense.
- Your shipping costs and other costs are not reimbursed when the right of withdrawal is exercised. Swedish court applies.
