Facts about the model

Triumph Spitfire was introduced at the London Motor Show in 1962 and was to remain in production until the 1980s. The Italian Giovanni Michelotti was in charge of the design. The story tells us that the Standard Triumph manufacturer was economically worn and did not have the resources to put the model into production. When Leyland took over, their representatives should have gone through the factory and found the prototype of Spitfire in a corner under a dusty tarpaulin. The decision to put the model into production was then taken quickly. Mark 3 came in 1967 and has a nos with high mounted bumper to meet new safety requirements. At the same time, the engine was drilled and grew to 1.3 liter stroke. The car also got stronger brakes and wider wheels.
