"A modern classic – nice some small fixes then ready for summer next year."

Description

A nice Lotus Esprit – still with Giorgetto Giugiaros razor sharp lines and the sharp turbo engine. This Right hand drive specimen has low mileage for its age and is a genuine original in good condition, privately imported from the homeland of Britain.
The painted in its original blue metallic and still good condition, it has some small stone chips and marks especially on the bonnet and rear wheel arches. However, the fiberglass bodywork is extremely solid only thing we found is a small crack in the rear spoiler.
The Giugiaro emblems on the sides are matte and the black detailing around the side windows have some minor scratches that should be easy to fix.
Three of the four original BBS wheels are verging in perfect while the fourth has some curb rash. The front tires are worn and it’s fitted with a new battery.
The car belongs to part of classic car collections and has been started a few times every year. The engine and gearbox works well, but will require a full service and new MOT.
The interior requires a good clean and leather treatment, the interior is original and show some sign of ware very usual for all Lotus Esprit interiors.
The Lotus Esprit Turbo came in 1980, and with the 2.2-liter engine equipped with Turbo, the Lotus Esprit had suddenly started rubbing shoulders with other super cars. Esprit also became a celebrity on the silver screen – much thanks to James Bond later in films like Basic Instinct and Pretty Woman.

The car drove well when it was bought in 2017 and has since been started up a couple of times a year. Last MOT was in 2016 with remarks horn and windshield washer not working properly. The car runs and drive ok, brakes feel ok, and some noise from the clutch bearing. Engine not cleaned a little trace of oil and oxide. Will require a full service and new MOT, New battery fitted. Exhaust back box and rear shocks will need replacing.

  • Interior condition:

Normal lotus interior complete and needs a clean, drivers seat leather need glueing on the backrest and so do the window side panels.

  • Exterior condition:

Some normal stone chips and small touch up otherwise nice, would be improved with a polish.

  • General condition:

A nice working original that runs and drives well, will need the mentioned fixes, but a cool summer cars that’s growing in value

Facts about the model

The S3 received the 2.2 L Type 912 engine. The Turbo Esprit had a wet sump engine with the same power and torque output as its dry sump predecessor. Interior trim was revised which, when combined with changes to the body moulds, resulted in more headroom and an enlarged foot-well. The Turbo Esprit retained the aerodynamic body kit of the Essex cars and featured prominent 'turbo esprit' decals on the nose and sides. The S3 gained the new larger bumpers but kept the simpler sill line and glazed rear hatch of the S2.2 body. Both cars came with 381 mm (15 in) BBS alloy wheels. One interesting omission was that the Esprit S3 had no cigarette lighter as standard equipment; ashtrays are tucked away in the door sills.
Minor changes were made to bodywork and front suspensions for the 1985 model year.
The final incarnations of the Giugiaro-styled Esprit were announced in April 1986. A higher compression ratio for the engines was indicated by the 'HC' moniker. Power output of the naturally aspirated engine rose to 172 PS (127 kW; 170 hp) and 160 lb?ft (217 N?m) for the Esprit HC, and to 218 PS (160 kW; 215 hp) and 298 N?m (220 lb?ft) for the Turbo Esprit HC, with more torque available at lower engine speeds
