Jaguar XJ-SC Targa V12 — 1986

• Mechanical condition

  The car received a basic startup service about a year ago, which included checking all fluids and installing a new battery. It was started and driven out of the storage; the brakes held well, but an inspection is necessary after 30 years of inactivity. Since then, the gearbox mounts and front ball joints have been replaced, along with a brake fluid change and exercising all brake components. The exhaust seal has been renewed with new parts, and the engine runs better as a result. However, the car has an aftermarket electric fuel pump with a separate switch located under the ignition lock, so the fuel pressure should be checked. Otherwise, the engine bay is in order, though it would benefit from a thorough cleaning. It is also recommended to inspect all connections and hoses on a V12 engine that has been idle for over 30 years.

• Interior condition

  The interior is intact; the leather seats and door panels show normal wear for their age. The carpets need cleaning. The dashboard, wood trim, and gauges are in good condition.

• Exterior condition

  The body is straight and free from rust. The underside is in good, undamaged condition. The paint is nice, but there are some minor paint chips all around, as well as a few larger scratches and damages on the right front fender (see pictures). The Targa roof fits well, and so does the folding rear soft top, though it requires a bit of extra effort. The electric windows don’t work, and the window tracks most likely need fresh grease. Good wire-spoke wheels with some surface rust spots.

• General condition

  An XJ-SC, that is, the Targa model, is, as mentioned, a rare version and even more uncommon among the Swedish XJ-S population. It’s in nice original condition and relatively easy to get approved for road use again.

• At this auction, many vehicles have been included in car collections and have been stored (mothballed) for a long time. For this reason, they are described from a collector's perspective and may need technical reviews and maintenance service - oil, battery replacement, new tires, brake review, etc. - before they can be used. .
• During the auction days information about a vehicle may be updated up to the day before the auction ends. When you bid at the end of the auction period - and also if you have made an earlier bid - we therefore ask you to read the descriptions carefully, in case something has been changed due to new information.

Important to know before placing your bids!

• Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
• When you need to retrieve a called in object we want you to examine it carefully. If you consider that the item does not match our description you do not need to complete the purchase. In this case the deposited purchase sum and the entry fee are refunded.
• If you do not examine the item on the spot the call charge will be debited, but you do not have to complete the deal.
• If you make the entire purchase exclusively at a distance you have 14 days to cancel, but must return the item at your own expense.
• Your shipping costs and other costs are not reimbursed when the right of withdrawal is exercised. Swedish court applies.
• For items that have not been collected within 14 days storage costs may be charged.
