"This is a complete car, inside and out, but the engine appears to be seized after attempting to move it by towing in gear. The car has not been started. Older paperwork from Riksarkivet is included for re-registration."

Description

The current owner bought an old farm and later discovered two Volvo PVs stored in a barn, untouched for decades. The barn had to be partly dismantled to get them out — see recovery photos. Fortunately, the dry storage has preserved much of the car.

Old registration papers show 3 owners, all from the Linköpimg area. The car was last driven up until 1968 according to old inpsection and tax sticker then parked in the barn.

The interior is impressively well-preserved. At some stage, the seats were reupholstered in a striped fabric, and the original grey cloth remains underneath. It even includes a charming original 1950s baby seat. The cabin presents well overall, and with a few minor fixes it will be fully ready to use.

Externally, the body is straight, though there is typical rust along the lower edges of the wings and scattered surface rust in various areas. The paintwork is dull and flaking in places, and while all chrome trim is present, several pieces show oxidation.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

The car has not been started. It rolls freely, and the tyres hold air for a few days. The engine is seized and does not turn over. Filling the cylinders with diesel and letting it soak for a few days may help free it, but the engine will still require a full rebuild. Everything under the bonnet appears to be complete. Transport collection will be necessary.

  • Interior condition:

As mentioned the interior is in a good and complete condtiion consider its been in a barn for 50+ years

  • Exterior condition:

There is surface rust and corrosion around the lower edges of the wings, all repairable with some welding. The underbody shows surface rust as well, though it’s difficult to assess fully without a proper cleaning. These cars were built with thick, durable steel and are usually structurally sound. All chrome trim is present, though it shows oxidation.

  • General condition:

This car is absolutely saveable and not too difficult to get running again. There is plenty of support and a good supply of parts available through Facebook groups and enthusiast communities. Best kept in its current, original condition—after all, it’s only original once.
