Condition

  • Mechanical condition

The car works excellently and is a pleasure to drive. However, the water pump is leaking and making a noise, so it should be replaced immediately.

  • Interior condition

The interior is in good condition with signs of use. The rear seat cannot be folded up but is otherwise intact. A detailing would be needed to make it truly beautiful.

  • Exterior condition

An older paint job that has held up well over the years, but needs a polish. There are signs of fender edge repairs on the left side. The chrome is in good condition, and the car is equipped with nice tires on the original rims.

  • General condition

A practical enthusiast vehicle in good, ready-to-drive condition.

Facts about the model

The Volvo PV Duett was produced between 1953 and 1969. The Duett was developed based on the Volvo PV to target a new market for those needing a more spacious vehicle. The result was the Volvo Duett, which was launched in 1953. The name "Duett" was chosen to reflect Volvo's concept of the car as both a transport vehicle and a passenger car. The car was designed and engineered by a man named Erik Skoog.

Before the Duett, various versions of the PV estate/wagon/ambulance were produced by independent body manufacturers on special delivery chassis called "PV 445," introduced by Volvo in 1949. The production of the 445 chassis continued alongside the Duett production until 1961.

Initially called the PV 445 Duett, the car received a facelift in 1960 with the P 210 Duett, which featured a number of improvements, such as a full windshield instead of the previous split version. The Duett can be considered Volvo's first station wagon, although it became particularly popular among farmers and craftsmen. Many people may remember the orange Duetts that were used for many years by the Swedish Telecom (Televerket). Other major customers included the postal service (which used yellow wagons with black front fenders and grille) and the military, which in some cases equipped the vehicles with a top-mounted reconnaissance hatch. A few models were produced with a full rear door.
