Description

Completely fully renovated and extensively invested PV Sport, previously owned by an individual who passionately renovated multiple Volvo PVs. This car was off the road between 1976 and 1996. It was meticulously renovated during their spare time over several years. The renovation was successfully concluded in 2021. According to the vehicle registry, the car has had 9 owners since new. Following 1974, it has had only 1 user. It has always been situated in Norrland, with locations like Klimpfjäll, Riskbäck, and Vilhelmina marking its history. The original instruction book is missing. The odometer displays 96193 km. Unfortunately, there's no available record of the overall mileage. However, post-restoration, it has only been driven a few hundred kilometers. The car is now being offered for sale by its current owner due to space constraints, despite their admiration for this cherished vehicle.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

Fully rebuilt B18 sports engine, bored 0.30 over, polished crankshaft, and a new camshaft. Cylinder head converted for unleaded fuel. Overhauled gearbox. Newly refurbished carburetors. Brand new fuel tank. Upgraded two-inch sports exhaust system. Fresh brakes. In short, a complete and thorough technical overhaul.

  • Interior condition:

Completely new interior in its original design. Seats reupholstered, new door panels, and a fresh headliner. New rubber mats. The headliner could potentially be stretched a bit more, although this is mostly just a note. The boot space is in great condition, featuring a new fabric mat and side lining.

  • Exterior condition:

Completely restored bodywork by a professional. Four new wings have also been installed. Anything the owner found unsatisfactory has been replaced. The painting was done in 2020, with the car being painted in sections and then reassembled. The paintwork is glossy and reflective, although there is a small mark on the roof "as shown in the picture," likely where some filler has settled over time. The car features new American-style bumper. The body is straight and well-fitted. All rubber seals have been replaced. New decorative trim around the windshield and rear window. The side moldings are in good used condition. There are a few small blemishes in the chrome on the moldings located on the front edge of the bonnet. New tires on newly manufactured 5.5-inch wheels.

  • General condition:

This is a "turn-key" fully renovated PV Sport that is ready to be driven and enjoyed for many years to come.

Facts about the model

PV is undoubtedly the model that has had the most significance for Volvo's passenger car manufacturing. The Volvo PV 444 began production in 1947, and the final PV 544 rolled off the assembly line in 1965, totaling 440,000 units.

The first "Sport" version was introduced in 1958, shortly after the launch of the PV 544. The more powerful engine, including dual carburetors, was initially intended solely for the US market. However, by the end of 1958, it became clear that it could also be sold in the domestic market without raising import tariffs in the USA.

The initial units sold were equipped with the B16B engine with 85 horsepower. In August 1961, it was replaced by the new five-bearing B18 engine. The PV 544 Sport was equipped with the B18D engine, producing 90 horsepower. In August 1965, the power of the Sport version was increased to 95 horsepower. However, just a few months later, Volvo announced that the model would be discontinued at the end of October 1965.

The last manufactured PV was a black PV 544 Sport.
