"This car has been well-maintained by its owner, but it hasn't been driven extensively in the past few years; it has always been kept in a garage. It starts easily and runs smoothly, with the engine and gearbox and drives well. However, the brakes will require a service. Overall, due to the limited recent use, a routine service and a minor review are recommended before taking it out for a drive, after which it should perform very well."

Description

The current owner bought the car back in 1982 and now after 41 years of motoring it time to sell and that only age related not for the car just the owner. The story goes that first owner bought the car new and was very careful driver and always washed the car everytime he drove it until he passed away and the car was left untouched and fell out of the Swedish registration system for many years before the current owner bought it in 1982 and registered the car in June 1983. The car was in sound and solid condition just needed some welding work on the underbody and some small fixes in the bodywork and then its was repainted in its original blue colour. Today car still remains in a nice and well kept condtion with minor blemish in the paintwork and that thanks to the owner always keeping the car garaged properly. Its such a nice and geniue car that only needs routine service and maintiance to be enjoyed for many more year to comes plus its inspection/MOT exempt for ever.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

As previously mentioned, the car runs and drives smoothly. However, a routine service and brake assessment are needed. Everything under the hood appears to be in good condition, with the exception of a broken wire on the thermostat, which is a straightforward fix. All electrical cables are in good working order. The wheels are in nice condition and equipped with older tires that still have good tread.

  • Interior condition:

The entire interior is remarkably well-preserved, especially considering its nearly 70 years of age. The dashboard stands out with its original instrumentation and nicely maintained paintwork. A vintage Philips radio is also present and in working condition. The steering wheel does exhibit signs of wear, consistent with its age. Included with the car are Saab blanket covers that, when removed, reveal seats in good condition, except for some fabric damage on the driver's seat. The rubber floor mat is in overall good shape, though there is a minor area of damage on the passenger side footwell. The headliner is neatly maintained, and the door cards are in good condition with some signs of wear. Collectively, these elements contribute to an overall inviting and wonderful interior ambiance – a perfect setting for relaxing and enjoying the driving experience.

  • Exterior condition:

The bodywork is straight and clean, with well-fitting panels and no visible rust issues. The underbody is solid and clean, although slightly damp under the engine, which is common for 2-stroke cars. There are minor spots of surface rust under the door edges. The paintwork is generally nice, with a small 10 cm paint crack near the driver's door. The chromework is good and clean overall, aside from a few blisters on the left rear bumper. No immediate work is needed; it's ready to be enjoyed as it is.

  • General condition:

This is an ideal car for both Saab enthusiasts and those seeking a unique piece of Swedish automotive history. With just a few minor fixes, you can have a fantastic car for many years ahead.
