This Volvo 240 GLT was bought new by a gentleman named Gösta. In 1980, the GLT with 140 horsepower under the hood was the most powerful offering from Volvo. (The 240 Turbo with 155 horsepower was introduced the following year.) The car has had 8 owners, including the current owner.
The odometer reads just under 87,000 km, but according to the owner, this mileage is not accurate. He estimates the actual distance driven to be closer to 300,000 km. There is a note in the engine bay about a timing belt change at 224,340 km, dated 040707. Based on this, the mileage is estimated to be around 300,000 km. The owner bought the car in 2022 to fulfill his dream of owning a fine 240 GLT. However, he has lost his garage space and is now passing the car on to the next Volvo enthusiast.

Equipped with a B23 engine with fuel injection, which in this configuration was rated at 140 hp. It has a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive, activated via a button on the gear stick. The GLT is also equipped with power steering. According to the owner, the car drives smoothly and steadily on the road. In 2022, he drove it from Motala to Ramsjö, a distance of over 500 km, without any problems.

Nice interior with minor wear and tear. The right door pocket is missing. Neat trunk space with well-maintained spare wheel wells. See pictures.

Looks nice on the outside. The GLT badge on the grille is missing. Equipped with later turbo wheels. The front bumper needs adjustment on the left side. See picture.

Facts about the model
The Volvo 240 was a further development of the Volvo 140 series. The Volvo 240 (including the Volvo 260) had great sales success and is Volvo's most produced model series ever with its 2.8 million units. At the beginning of the series, the 244 GL and GLE were the most powerful variants with fuel injection on the B21 engine. Then came the 242 GT, followed by the GLT model which got the B23 engine. The GLT, Grand Luxe Touring, was Volvo's sporty extra equipment level for passenger cars starting in 1980. The Volvo 240 has achieved cult status as the typical Volvo. It was also Sweden's most common car for a long time. The last Volvo 240 was manufactured on May 5, 1993 - a green station wagon.
