Description
This Volvo 940 Classic was purchased new from Bilkompaniet in Eskilstuna on July 17, 1997. It’s a one-owner car—now transferred to the owner’s wife—and is in excellent condition. The car retains its original paint, which remains in very good shape, and the interior is equally well-preserved and carefully maintained.
It sits on newer Hakkapeliitta summer tires, and a set of older studded winter tires on steel rims is included (see photo). Equipment includes a tow bar, manual gearbox, functioning air conditioning, radio/CD player, power windows, and electric mirrors.
The car comes with extensive documentation including inspection reports, a fully stamped service book, and receipts. Three sets of keys are also included.
Although the odometer shows just over 240,000 km, the car feels and looks like it has far fewer kilometers on it. It’s always a pleasure to come across such a well-kept and unspoiled example.

Mechanical condition
Runs well in both engine and drivetrain. The braking system operates as it should, and all other vehicle equipment is functioning properly as well.

Interior condition
Clean and tidy. Some minor wear on the side bolsters of the driver’s seat backrest (see photo). Otherwise, the interior is in good and well-kept condition.

Original paint in good condition. The underside of the car looks solid. Straight and clean body with good panel alignment.

Facts about the model
1998 marked the final production year of the Volvo 940, and these models were given the designation “Classic.” The Classic can be recognized by several distinguishing features, including white indicator lenses instead of the orange ones found on earlier models. It also has a slightly different front and rear bumper design, with the upper lip painted in the car’s body color.
The estate (wagon) version received an additional decorative trim piece on the rear section between the rear wheel arch and the taillights. This trim gives the Classic’s taillights a slightly different shape compared to standard models.
Standard features on the Classic included a chrome slat grille—though a mesh grille with a chrome surround was also available as an option—as well as electric windows and electric side mirrors.

General information about the condition of the vehicles .
- At this auction, many vehicles have been included in car collections and have been stored (mothballed) for a long time. For this reason, they are described from a collector's perspective and may need technical reviews and maintenance service - oil, battery replacement, new tires, brake review, etc. - before they can be used. .
- During the auction days information about a vehicle may be updated up to the day before the auction ends. When you bid at the end of the auction period - and also if you have made an earlier bid - we therefore ask you to read the descriptions carefully, in case something has been changed due to new information.
Important to know before placing your bids!
- Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
- When you need to retrieve a called in object we want you to examine it carefully. If you consider that the item does not match our description you do not need to complete the purchase. In this case the deposited purchase sum and the entry fee are refunded.
- If you do not examine the item on the spot the call charge will be debited, but you do not have to complete the deal.
- If you make the entire purchase exclusively at a distance you have 14 days to cancel, but must return the item at your own expense.
- Your shipping costs and other costs are not reimbursed when the right of withdrawal is exercised. Swedish court applies.
- For items that have not been collected within 14 days storage costs may be charged.
