"A very well-maintained and well-serviced car that offered an interesting and exciting ride with “drooping moustaches.”"

Description

A beautifully preserved original car that runs flawlessly. This Ford has remained in the same family since it was purchased new in 1924, originally delivered by car dealer Knut Wiklander in Östersund, and it has stayed in the local area ever since.

It underwent a professional restoration in the 1980s, including a respray in the original colors, new upholstery, and a new convertible top. The car remains in excellent condition to this day. It has never required rust repairs, and there are no signs of corrosion on the body or chassis. The engine has been rebuilt and runs perfectly.

Still used on sunny days for local drives, weddings, and graduation celebrations, this cherished vehicle is now in the hands of the third generation. Unfortunately, there is no natural successor in the family able to care for it, making this a rare opportunity to acquire a true heirloom.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

The car starts easily using the electric starter, which, according to the owner, was introduced for the first time in 1924. It drives smoothly on the road, with both reverse and forward gears operating without issue. The tires show some minor cracks, while the wooden wheels are in excellent condition. The braking system functions just as it did when the car was built. All instruments are working, including the radiator cap-mounted thermometer. The headlights appear to be original, and all lighting functions properly.

  • Interior condition:

The elegant bench seats have some minor seam damage, but the interior is otherwise in typical condition for a car that’s still in use. The steering wheel has been replaced with an identical one of the original type. The car has also been fitted with two small flower vases and a blue crystal glass ashtray—accessories that, according to the current owner, have been in the car for as long as they can remember. See photos.

  • Exterior condition:

The car has a very fine finish and is painted in its original grey/black color scheme. The only visible paint scratches are on the running boards—see photos. The convertible top fits very well and is both clean and intact. An original accessory luggage rack that has never been mounted is included with the car, as well as the original tools shown in the pictures. The current owner has also added small flag holders on the front fenders.

  • General condition:

A truly stunning car—equally at home in a museum, at classic car shows, or simply out for the sheer joy of driving.

Owner's comment

Unfortunately, there is no one in the family who can take care of the car, so it’s better that it is passed on to an enthusiast who can continue to enjoy and preserve it.

Facts about the model

The car was sold in 1924 by car dealer Knut Wiklander in Östersund to the current owner’s grandmother’s husband. It has since been passed down within the family. A full restoration was carried out in the mid-1980s, and the current owner became the third caretaker in 2014. The car has been regularly used and is fully functional in all respects.
