"An original car with low mileage that runs perfectly fine. It has no rust, but there are some scratches and minor imperfections in a few places."

Description

On the first of March 1967, Frode i Lund AB delivered this car to Miss Elsa Tell, who traded in her Morris Minor. She took great care of her beautiful VW and always kept it in the garage. She mostly drove it to Malmö or Eslöv, where most of her relatives lived. Since 1982, she gladly accompanied the current owner and his wife to family gatherings, leaving the car parked. Regular service and maintenance have always been carried out.

In 2007, at the age of 85, she felt it was time to let go, and she allowed the current owner and his wife, who were relatives, to take over the ownership. Since then, the car has been kept in a garage and driven sparingly during the summer months. Regular repairs and inspections have been done, including brake renovation a couple of years ago. The car has only covered 52,400 km to this day.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

The car runs well, and everything is in working order.

  • Interior condition:

The interior is in pristine original condition, though there are stains on the passenger seat and the backrest of the rear seat. Otherwise, the interior gives a good impression and only requires a reconditioning to become really nice.

  • Exterior condition:

The original paint is in good condition but has some scratches on the front fenders and the right rear side. The car has never had any rust and looks nice overall. The chrome is in good condition, but the bumpers have defects both at the front and back. The wheels and tires are in good shape.

  • General condition:

A sought-after VW in a nicely patinated original condition, perfect to keep as it is or to fix the minor damages on the body.

Facts about the model

There are volumes written about the history of the VW 1200, from the project's inception in the 1930s to how British soldiers kick-started production after World War II and how the first cars made their way to Sweden and Scania Vabis in 1948. So, let's quickly fast-forward 19 years to 1967. That's when a new engine, 1500 cubic centimeters and 44 horsepower, was introduced. It also featured front disc brakes, a 12-volt electrical system, and updated door handles. The steering wheel was now black, and the instrument panel had black buttons.
