"An Opel Olympia that runs well and makes a great impression both inside and out. It hasn’t been driven much over the past 30 years and has remained largely free from rust."

Description

This Opel has had only a few careful owners who have taken great care of it.
It has most likely not covered more than 104,000 km.

At some point in the 1990s, the car was repainted in its original color and has barely been driven since. It has mostly been on display in various collections. The current owner has carried out a recommissioning service, and the car runs well.

The car was restored in the 1990s and has not been driven since the restoration. In 2014, it was sold to a private collector in the Kristianstad area, where it remained on display without being driven. In 2024, the current owner purchased the car for their collection and has not driven it.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition

The car starts easily and runs well. The brakes pull slightly to the right but should be easily adjusted; otherwise, it functions satisfactorily.

  • Interior condition

Original interior in fine condition with signs of careful use, considering the car is 70 years old.

  • Exterior condition

Repainted in the original color in the 1990s and has remained in good condition since. Decent chrome with a few minor imperfections.

  • General condition

A fine example of what an Opel looked like in the 1950s.

Facts about the model

In 1953, Opel introduced its major new model, the Opel Olympia Rekord. With its modern pontoon body, it was something entirely different from Opel’s pre-war designs. It succeeded the earlier Olympia, which had been in production since 1935.
The Olympia Rekord, featuring scaled-down GM-inspired styling from the USA, was built until 1957 and was equipped with a four-cylinder inline engine and a three-speed manual gearbox. It was available as a two-door sedan, estate (wagon), and convertible.
In 1955, it received a mild facelift with a slightly larger rear window and a new grille. According to data from the Swedish Transport Agency, there are ???? about 310 registered Opel Olympia Rekord models from 1953–1957 in Sweden, so you’re unlikely to encounter many similar cars on the road this summer.
