Description
Over the past ten years, it has covered approximately 2,000 km. The current owner, a classic car enthusiast with several vehicles in his collection, acquired the car in July 2019. He has driven it very sparingly, and at the most recent inspection it received a remark for binding rear brakes—this has now been addressed.
This became the reason to pass the car on to someone who has the opportunity to use it more, as it truly deserves and is built for.
Current mileage is 71,280 km. The car comes with its original binder containing manuals, as well as two sets of keys.
Inspected and ready to drive.
Technical data
Condition
-
Mechanical condition
The engine starts easily and runs smoothly and quietly. During a short test drive on both country roads and in built-up areas, the car felt quiet and comfortable. The steering and automatic transmission, including a functioning kickdown, performed well.
There was a slight “clunk” over bumps, likely due to a worn bushing. The brakes worked properly but engaged somewhat low and should be checked. As the car has seen very limited use in recent times, a general inspection and service are recommended.
The car has not been inspected on a lift, but what could be observed appeared sound in terms of vital components. No remarks were noted at the vehicle inspection. -
Interior condition
A very fine and well-preserved interior with excellent comfort in both the front seats and rear bench. Door panels and trim are equally well kept. Nice textile carpets throughout. The headliner is in good condition, though it sags slightly at the rear above the back seat near the window.
The steering wheel, controls, and dashboard feature beautiful wood trim, all in well-preserved original condition. All electrical functions and gauges are working, except for the left rear window, which was not functioning at the time of inspection. The sunroof operates well. An uninstalled wind deflector for the sunroof is included with the car. -
Exterior condition
Nice, as it appears, original paintwork in Sage Green Metallic. Chrome, glass, trim, emblems, and lighting details are in good condition consistent with age and mileage. Attractive aluminum wheels fitted with older Firestone whitewall tires. Engine bay and trunk are in good original condition. Original tool kit included.

General condition
The XJ6 model has achieved cult status and is an icon of the 60s, 70s, and 80s. This example is in fine original condition and performs well, offering excellent driving enjoyment. At 40 years of age, it has reached both classic and enthusiast status. Its condition and history—with few owners and low mileage—make it a particularly interesting piece of automotive history.

Facts about the model
The following year, a more luxurious version was introduced as the Daimler Sovereign. Cars equipped with a vinyl roof were also given the Vanden Plas designation. In 1972, a version with a 12-cylinder engine—the XJ12—was introduced, along with a long-wheelbase “L” version. The Daimler variant received these updates the following year. This model would be the last developed with the involvement of the company’s founder, Sir William Lyons.
For the 1974 model year, the Series II was introduced, featuring several updates such as a new grille and higher-mounted bumpers.
For the 1980 model year, the Series III was launched, featuring a redesign by Pininfarina. While the changes were subtle at first glance, numerous refinements improved interior space, increased glass area, reduced aerodynamic drag, and gave the car a more modern appearance.
Technically, the model retained its proven fundamentals, including a cast-iron engine, but with improved performance and, above all, lower fuel consumption. In total, 132,852 examples of the Series III were produced.
