Description
Once the renovation began, it turned out the body needed more work than expected, especially due to rust damage. Rather than cut corners, the owner decided to carry out a full nut-and-bolt restoration. He worked on it daily for over six months to complete the project, and photos of the entire process are included.
The body was fully renovated, including the floor pan. The engine was rebuilt with new pistons, bearings, cam bearings, and more. The gearbox was reviewed and restored, and many worn components were replaced—such as bushings, brakes, the fuel system, and electrical parts. Once the mechanical and structural work was complete, the car was repainted in a striking metallic silver ("Diamant 97A").
The interior was also refreshed during the rebuild. It now features the “VW Big” dashboard and steering wheel, newer front seats with headrests from a 1975 model, and new carpeting throughout.
The restoration was completed in the summer of 2022, and the car has since been enjoyed on Gotland during the summers. It is now available for viewing at our depot in Sandared.

Mechanical condition
Starts instantly with a smooth-running, great-sounding engine. It drives well with easy gear changes, good road handling, and responsive brakes. Fitted with nice wheels and good tires. It's inspection-exempt forever and ready to be driven home.

Interior condition
Interior is clean and tidy, with the mentioned upgrades in place. The seats are all in good condition with no damage. The dashboard is clean, with two small marks (see pictures), and all gauges are fully functional. The door cards and panels are in good shape, and the headliner is clean throughout. One quirky feature: the headlights need to be turned on for the wipers to work.

Exterior condition
Bodywork is free from dents or damage, as expected from a fully renovated car—and this quality also extends to the underbody. The paintwork is in excellent condition, with no issues, and the chrome details all around are bright and shiny.
The soft top was not replaced during the renovation but is in good overall condition. There are no holes, and it fits tightly. It has only shrunk slightly around the frame edges (see pictures), but there is no need to replace the roof for many years to come. -
General condition
You're buying a car that has been fully renovated and is ready to be driven and enjoyed for many years to come—only requiring routine servicing in the future.

General information about the condition of the vehicles .
- At this auction, many vehicles have been included in car collections and have been stored (mothballed) for a long time. For this reason, they are described from a collector's perspective and may need technical reviews and maintenance service - oil, battery replacement, new tires, brake review, etc. - before they can be used. .
- During the auction days information about a vehicle may be updated up to the day before the auction ends. When you bid at the end of the auction period - and also if you have made an earlier bid - we therefore ask you to read the descriptions carefully, in case something has been changed due to new information.
Important to know before placing your bids!
- Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
- When you need to retrieve a called in object we want you to examine it carefully. If you consider that the item does not match our description you do not need to complete the purchase. In this case the deposited purchase sum and the entry fee are refunded.
- If you do not examine the item on the spot the call charge will be debited, but you do not have to complete the deal.
- If you make the entire purchase exclusively at a distance you have 14 days to cancel, but must return the item at your own expense.
- Your shipping costs and other costs are not reimbursed when the right of withdrawal is exercised. Swedish court applies.
- For items that have not been collected within 14 days storage costs may be charged.
