"A nice 99A that runs very well despite its age and can be made really excellent with relatively simple improvements."

Description

An almost unbelievably well-preserved Saab 99 that has escaped the fate of being turned into a folk racing car. The car had been off the road for many years when the current owner, a true Saab enthusiast, bought it four years ago. There are some minor rust spots, but overall the car is in good condition. Drive it as it is or carry out a rolling restoration at your own pace.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition

The car runs very quietly and functions well in all aspects. The brakes and clutch have been serviced. The gearbox operates without any issues. The engine runs smoothly, and the twin Zenith carburetors are well tuned.

  • Interior condition

Saab’s attractive interior in a blue shade is in very good condition, although slightly sun-faded, which is noticeable when lifting the original rubber mats. The gauges are functioning, and the dashboard is in good condition. Unfortunately, the headliner is sagging, but otherwise intact and clean. This is a common issue on older Saabs and can be fixed with the right approach.

  • Exterior condition

The blue original paint is in good condition, but there are some visible rust spots, including on the left front door and slightly on the sill. There is some paint flaking by the right side window, minor rust around the front indicators, and a faint old dent on the right front wing ahead of the wheel arch. See photos. The chrome, lights, and other glass are in good condition. The tires and the unique Minilite wheels with SAAB embossing are also in good condition.

  • General condition

A solid and fine example of the Saab 99 that can be restored to original condition with relatively simple measures.
