"Finished in Alpine White with rare dark brown leather seats, this car really stands out. Super presentable and ready to be driven and enjoyed. Recently inspected without remarks, valid until 2028-03-21."

Description

The car was sold new by Förenade Bil in Stockholm to its first owner, who kept it until 1991. The stamped service book records mileage up to 113,211 km. Since then, it has had a total of 5 owners, including the current owner who acquired the car in 2023. The previous owner, a BMW enthusiast, carried out an extensive renovation and numerous repairs between 2020–2023 — as detailed in the list below.

New radiator, water pump, cooling hoses, and expansion tank (with level sensor)
New fuel system: tank, pumps, filter, lines, and relay
New ignition components: coil, plugs, leads, and distributor cap
New brake components: discs front & rear (with pads), brake fluid reservoir, and pressure switch
New rear silencer (exhaust)
Refurbished injectors
New belts (cooling fan & power steering)
New various hoses (fuel, hydraulic, washer systems)
New windscreen
Repainted bonnet
New electrical components, switches, bulbs, and window controls
New wiper arm covers and condenser fan resistor
New sound insulation under bonnet

Service Work (Mileage):
Gearbox oil changed at 23,368 mil
Engine oil & filter changed at 23,410 mil
Rear axle oil changed at 23,300 mil
Power steering fluid changed at 23,300 mil

The current owner has used the car lightly over the summer months, mainly for local shows and meetings. It has recently been serviced, including replacement of the clutch cylinder, and has just passed a new inspection with no remarks, valid until 2028-03-21.

On test drive, the car runs and drives well. The only noted points are that the clutch engages slightly high but operates correctly and may benefit from minor adjustment. The front electric windows are not working; however, the motors and mechanisms have been tested and function correctly. The issue has been traced to a wire in the ignition switch and will require repair.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition

The car starts immediately and, after a short warm-up, runs smoothly and nicely without any unusual noises — the engine feels strong. The gearbox shifts well, the car has good road holding, and the brakes are solid. Fully functional air conditioning system. As mentioned, the clutch pedal sits slightly high and could benefit from adjustment.

It sits on classic BMW “Bottlecap” alloy wheels, with a complete set including a spare wheel, all fitted with good, newer tires. Ready to be driven home. The trunk also includes some additional newer spare parts and oils (see photos).

  • Interior condition

interior is super clean and tidy, finished in dark brown leather with matching door cards. All seats are in great condition, with only a small 1 cm hole on the driver’s seat (see pictures).

Headliner, carpets, and dashboard are all in very good condition. Original gauges and instruments function correctly, including the BMW On-Board Computer (OBC), which just requires setup. The BMW Check Control panel shows no issues.

As common on E28 models, the service indicator lights can remain on due to reset tools being hard to source, though they clear when driving. Displays are clear with no pixelation.

A newer radio is fitted but would benefit from proper installation and aerial connection. Electric mirrors work, and the front windows require repair to the ignition wire.

The boot space is very clean and tidy.

  • Exterior condition

A very presentable example with straight bodywork and panels, free from dents and rust, supported by a clean, solid underbody. Paintwork has a bright, glossy finish, with only minor age-related marks. It has benefited from partial repainting over 20 years ago, with the bonnet resprayed by the previous owner. Chromework remains bright throughout, with only light oxidation to the bumper corners (see pictures).

  • General condition

Its an ideal choice for any BMW enthusiast looking for a good 528i. Only a few minor jobs remain, all easily resolved. Presents well, with no rust issues, and runs and drives as it should.
