Description

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

The engine starts with starter fluid and a booster/extra battery. The car was not driven at the time of photography but is said to be drivable. Nothing else has been tested or checked. It was last inspected in 2015.

  • Interior condition:

Worn and damaged, but would look much better with a couple of period-correct plaid blankets.

  • Exterior condition:

Looks okay from a distance. The bodywork was filled and quickly repainted a few years ago. The chrome is pitted and lightly rusted. There are likely rust damages hidden under filler. The car was originally intended for a static display. That chapter is now over, and it’s time for the car to be sold. Dented roof. See photos.

  • General condition:

An unusual restoration project that, with some interest and effort, could be brought back to the road—provided expectations aren’t set too high.

Facts about the model

Vauxhall Motors was founded in 1857 by Alexander Wilson, initially as a manufacturer of engines for pumps and marine applications. The company was sold in 1863, and in 1903 it began producing automobiles. As early as 1925, the American company General Motors acquired Vauxhall. Up until the 1980s, Vauxhall primarily manufactured its own unique models. After that, the cars were essentially the same as Opel models, but with specific adaptations and model-specific changes.
