"Utility, fun, and driving joy — this generation of the Defender, and this particular example, offers plenty of practical value combined with undeniable enthusiast appeal."

Description

This Defender rolled off the production line at Land Rover’s Solihull factory in June 2013 and was delivered by Hedin Bil in Varberg to its first and only owner three months later, on September 6th.

The owner kept the equipment list modest — he wanted it relatively clean, without too many features that signaled adventure and off-roading without actually engaging in those activities. A roof rack was added, but otherwise, the Defender was intended to be a practical utility vehicle — and that’s exactly how it has been used.

It has covered just under 130,000 kilometers over nearly 12 years.

All service and maintenance have been handled by Kastells Bil & Lantbruksservice in Långås, outside Falkenberg — a legendary workshop in the Swedish Land Rover community.
The most recent approved inspection was carried out on January 8, 2025.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

The widely used Duratorq engine family — known as the Puma in versions found in vehicles like the Ford Transit — gave the final generation of the classic Defender a real boost.
In this auction vehicle, everything feels as it should in terms of engine, transmission, and chassis. The engine bay will be cleaned prior to delivery.

  • Interior condition:

Unworn interior in good condition, with foldable rear seats. The steering wheel shows some wear on the center pad. Period-correct equipment includes AC and front power windows. Overall, the cabin feels fresh, with clean carpets, door panels, and headliner — complete with the stylish small roof windows.

  • Exterior condition:

Nice paintwork in a classic and appealing Land Rover color. A few marks and a soft dent from some light loading activities — but that’s about it.

Original alloy wheels are fitted with solid, moderately aggressive Cooper M+S tires bearing the Alpine snowflake symbol.
Calling a tire “all-season” might be an insult in most cases — and often inaccurate — but for a Defender, that label may actually be both fitting and accepted.

  • General condition:

From a utility vehicle to what is likely a future enthusiast’s car — presented here in a nicely clean and stripped-down original condition.
A light underbody treatment to address surface rust and freshen up the underside would enhance the appearance below — an area that tends to be more visible and scrutinized on a Defender than on most other vehicles.
Such a treatment had been planned in recent years, but it’s now up to the next owner to decide if and when it should be done.

Facts about the model

In many ways, the classic Land Rover Defender might just be the ultimate eco-friendly vehicle. Built largely using the same tools and techniques for 68 years, it required minimal resources in terms of advanced development.
It’s said that around 80% of all Defenders ever made are still on the road and in active use.
From that perspective, it becomes easier to view this — admittedly old-school — machine through the lens of today’s environmental buzzword: sustainability.
