Description
The first owner purchased the car new from Hanssons Bil in Vänersborg. His daughter took over the car in 2001. In 2010, she traded the car back to the same dealership that had serviced and sold the car to the family, Hanssons Bil. They decided to keep the car as it is a special numbered edition, with the numbers "621" and the LeMans model designation on the driver's door. In 2014, the dealership had the car inspected and continued to store it until the current owner purchased it in 2019. The car had been off the road since 2010 and had driven approximately 116 000 kilometers.
The current owner had the car inspected in 2019 and then stored it. Facts about the model
Peugeot 405 was a mid-size model introduced in 1987 and chosen as Car of the Year in Europe the following year. The model replaced the 305 and to some extent the slightly larger 505. The 405 was designed by Pininfarina and was available as a four-door sedan and station wagon. The model was offered with diesel and petrol engines ranging from 1.6 to 2.0 litres, developing between 65 and 250 horsepower. In Sweden, the most common engines were the 1.6-litre (90-110 hp), 1.9-litre 8V (122 hp), and 1.9-litre 16V MI16 (148 hp). Four-wheel drive was offered with the 148 hp engine for a few years. An uncommon version was the 405 T16 with a turbocharged engine producing 220 hp and four-wheel drive. The car was highly appreciated for its excellent driving characteristics, good comfort, and resistance to rust.
A special-built coupé version (405 Turbo 16 GR), strictly used in rallying, was also available but had little in common with the other variants in the series. In 1993, a facelift was made with a different interior, tailgate, and the 1.9-litre engine enlarged to 2.0 litres. A "luxury" version of the MI16 called LeMans was also introduced, which was numbered in 1995. The LeMans model had the same interior as the T16, including leather/suede upholstery, air conditioning, and more.
