"A very well-maintained car that gives a good impression. Works flawlessly and has nothing that needs fixing and is completely ready to drive."

Description

The car was sold new in February 1988 by Wendels and since then has had owners who have taken good care of it. When it had travelled 18,520 km, the speedometer was replaced under warranty, which is noted in the service book. Has mostly changed hands via car dealers and also Jaguar specialist Joe's garage has had it in their possession at one point.

The previous owner bought the car in 2018 and, in addition to ongoing service, has also changed the headliner.

The current owner bought the car last summer but needs the space in the garage due to another project. So therefore he is selling this gem again.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

Runs very nicely and shifts smoothly. Everything works perfectly even the AC. The car is serviced and maintained according to plan. The first position of the interior fan does not work but from steps 2 and up it is OK. The speedometer was replaced under warranty by Wendels at 18,520 km, so the car has travelled 105,539 km in total. There is an insignificant oil leak which is common on these models.

  • Interior condition:

Very nice original interior in undamaged condition but needs a simpler valet on the cushions of the driver's and passenger's seats. The headliner has been changed by the previous owner because the old one was sagging.

  • Exterior condition:

As far as we can judge, it is the original paint, which is in good condition with few traces of use. There are a couple of small dents, on the right rear door. The chrome is in excellent condition as well as the tyres and wheels.

  • General condition:

Hard to find a Swedish-sold Daimler in this fine original condition, well-equipped luxury car that is comfortable to drive and has an appearance to appreciate.

Facts about the model

The third generation of Jaguar's best-selling model, the Jaguar XJ 6, and the top model, the Daimler Double Six (with a V12 engine), arrived in 1979. The car model had received a major exterior facelift designed by Pininfarina. Series 3 is considered by many to be the most beautiful model in the XJ series. At first glance, it may be difficult to tell the difference from the Series 2 cars, but in fact, only a few body panels are identical to its predecessor. Series 3 was only manufactured with the long wheelbase. At that time, the US market required additional impact-absorbing bumpers, and to avoid completely different designs depending on the market, the old chrome bumpers were abandoned in favor of completely new ones made of black rubber. The US market still required special bumpers, but now it was sufficient with a different center section. The new bumpers now also included front indicators and rear fog lights. The taillights were larger and now also included reversing lights. The radiator grille on the Jaguar models was new and now had only vertical slats, with the middle one being extra thick, but the Daimler models had the same grille as before. The recessed door handles were also new. The interior of Series 3 did not offer any major changes. The top model was called the Daimler Double Six, and the twelve-cylinder engine was 4.2 liters and produced 287 horsepower.
