"A sensible and good object with nice conditions for a good renovation."

Description

The car was delivered new by Kindwalls in Stockholm in the spring of 1953. The history can be traced through old registration documents and notes in the car's documentation (see image). It was registered again in the seventies and then deregistered in the eighties. I have been in contact with the previous owner Björn (who is the author of the written history published here as an image) who in turn bought the car from Birger at the then Smålands Jaguar Service in Virserum. And it was the latter who made the registration in the seventies. Regardless, there is more than enough documentation for an approved origin check and also for registration in, for example, England, the car's country of manufacture. The current owner has had the car for over twenty years and has slowly progressed with the restoration, but has now decided to sell due to illness. The car is complete with all parts.

Facts about the model

Armstrong Siddeley was an English, aristocratic car brand for just over 40 years, from 1919 to 1960. In addition to car production, the company was known for high-class aircraft engines, and even airplanes manufactured by de Havilland, of which Armstrong Siddeley was a part. Armstrong Siddeley was purchased by Rolls-Royce in 1959, and already a year later, car production was discontinued. However, aircraft engines are still being manufactured in the same factory under the name Rolls-Royce. The Sapphire model was available in several different body versions and was based on an X-frame with a body frame made of ash. Hoods and doors are made of aluminum, so there were no major rust problems. It had a six-cylinder 2-liter overhead valve engine producing 70 horsepower, designed to deliver smooth and quiet operation. In the 1950s, Armstrong Siddeley Sapphire competed with other luxury cars from brands such as Rolls-Royce and Bentley. But despite the car's high quality and performance, it was never sold to the same extent as its competitors. The high price tag of the car made it unattainable for most buyers.
